COLLEGE: Walsh University
My family, faith, sports, friends and teachers have all played an important role in making me the person that I am today.
The biggest influences in my life have been my family and friends. I have always placed a high value on academics because my parents taught me at a young age how important education is in life. For the past four years, I have made my schoolwork one of my top priorities. I set goals for myself, and one goal was to be in the top of my graduating class, which I have accomplished. My parents also taught me how important it is to pick good friends. The people you choose to hang around will greatly influence everything you do. I do not think I could be where I am at today without the support of my wonderful family and friends.
My faith has also played a very important role in my life. My older sister has influenced me to become actively involved in New Perspective, a Bible study group at our church. It has truly helped me strengthen my relationship with God. I also listen to Christian rock music, which keeps me positive. Every summer my family goes on a mission trip with a our church group to help people who genuinely need it. I look forward to this every year. Learning to help others and grow in my faith has helped me be successful in life.
Sports have also played a major role in making me who I am today. Playing competitively has taught me important qualities that I will take with me throughout life: confidence, hard work, teamwork, dedication, leadership, responsibility, prioritizing, self-control, respect, how to set goals and even how to deal with mistakes and disappointments. Besides these incredible life lessons, being involved in sports has given me some of the best-quality friends I could ever ask for in life.
I want to take this opportunity to thank my family, God, sports, friends and teachers that have helped me become the person I am today. I have the confidence to face new challenges in life. Now it’s on to college!
