AKRON: Politics and media will be the focus of the Akron Press Club’s luncheon speaker series this fall.
The first program will be a panel discussion on politics Sept. 13.
It will feature Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, and Jerry Austin and Mark Weaver, political consultants who are the University of Akron’s Bliss Institute of Applied Politics’ distinguished chairs and are teaching a battleground Ohio course this fall.
The other speakers will be:
• Gary Knell, president and CEO of National Public Radio, on Sept. 27.
• Russ Mitchell, lead anchor for WKYC (Channel 3) in Cleveland, on Oct. 11.
The political panel discussion and Mitchell programs will be at the University of Akron’s Martin Center, while the Knell speech is co-sponsored by WKSU and will be on the Kent State University Student Center Ballroom balcony. Lunch begins at 11:45, followed by the program.
