AEP to stop burning coal at Ohio coal-fired power plant, two others under revised clean-air agreement
In this Sept. 2000 file photo, Columbus-based American Electric Power has said it will need to spend $8 billion and close all or part of 11 coal-fired plants, eliminating 600 jobs in the wake of new federal clean-air rules. The Muskingum River Power Plant at Beverly in Washington County with its 160 workers will be on the closure list. (Bob DeMay/Akron Beacon Journal)
