Firefighters at scene of Kenmore house fire, 2100 22nd St., Monday afternoon. A Good Samaritan driving past the scene of the blaze with his girlfriend rescued an 85-year-old woman from inside the smoke-filled house after kicking in the side door. The woman's husband, who is 79, was unable to get inside as the Good Samaritan, John C. McKinney, 27, arrived at the scene. The couple was taken to Akron City Hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation, fire commander Dennis Stoneman said. (Ed Myer/Akron Beacon Journal)
