Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Herman Avenue man, 23, was charged with aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property after he allegedly tried to leave the Macy’s store at Chapel Hill without paying for merchandise. Store security discovered he had a pistol on him. The man pushed one security guard through a glass display and threatened other workers before fleeing the store, police said. The gun was later found to be stolen.

A Rentar Lane man, 23, was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly punched a pregnant woman several times in the face. Police said he was intoxicated and picked a fight with the woman.

A Flora Avenue man, 18, was charged with burglary, tampering with evidence and obstructing official business after he allegedly broke into an 11th Street home and looted a safe. Police said he stole guns and ammunition before fleeing. Officers arrested him on Flora Avenue, where he was trying to hide the guns behind a garage, police said.

An East Market Street man, 36, was charged with breaking and entering after he allegedly took copper pipes, siding and gutters from a Roselawn Avenue home. Police arrested him inside the home.

An Upson Street man, 23, was charged with breaking and entering after police reported finding him stealing metal from an Upson Street home.

A Munroe Falls man, 19, of Oakhurst Drive, was charged with burglary after he allegedly forced his way into a Darrow Road home.

Bath Township

Arrests

A man, 54, was charged with burglary Jan. 21 after he allegedly broke into a home in the 3900 block of North Shore Drive.

Copley Township

Threat

A Betula Avenue man, 53, told police Jan. 16 that a former employee threatened him over the phone. The man said he fired the worker for doing a poor job. The caller said he would slash the tires on the manager’s truck if he didn’t get paid for his work.

Assault

An Akron man, 26, told police Jan. 16, that a man assaulted him outside Pad Thai, where he works. He said the assailant was the boyfriend of a co-worker he had insulted.

Coventry Township

Robbery

Springfield police turned over to the FBI a robbery case that occurred Jan. 10 at a U.S. Bank branch on Manchester Road. A police report said the suspect fled with $2,396.

Thefts

Summit County sheriff’s officials were called Jan. 11 to First American Loans on Manchester Road after a spokesperson said deposits for the business were short $5,000.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A man, 22, and a woman, 25, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Jan. 19, and a companion, 21, was charged with having a weapon under disability, trafficking in heroin and possession of drugs.

A boy, 12, was charged with theft Jan. 16 after he asked a 13th Street man, 68, if he could borrow his cellphone but then ran away with it.

Assault

An Akron man told police Jan. 18 he was assaulted in the 2600 block of Oakwood Drive by someone who stole his prescription medication.

Menacing

A Wichert Drive woman, 43, told police Jan. 22 that a man responding to her Craigslist resume did not seem legitimate. When she questioned him, he grew angry and threatened her.

Indecent exposure

A man told police Jan. 21 that a juvenile fondled himself and exposed himself to children Jan. 21 in a shower of the YMCA, 544 Broad Blvd.

Cruelty to animals

A Ruth Avenue woman told police Jan. 22 that someone poisoned her 6-month-old kitten.

Burglaries

Two laptop computers were stolen Jan. 20 from a home in the 100 block of Madison Avenue.

Copper pipe was stolen Jan. 16 from a home in the 2400 block of Second Street.

Thefts

An Alameda Avenue man told police Jan. 20 that someone stole his checks, forged them and cashed them for $1,000.

A wallet was stolen Jan. 21 from a storage bin at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium. A credit card later was used to make $35 in illegal purchases.

A $1,000 automatic washer extractor was stolen Jan. 17 from outside Highland Cleaners, 2970 Sixth St.

Fairlawn

Arrests

Three Akron women, ages 20 to 25, were charged with theft Jan. 20 after they allegedly tried to steal goods from Target on West Market Street. They were also issued a traffic citation for parking in a handicapped space.

A Cuyahoga Falls girl, 17, told police Jan. 19 that someone shattered a window of her car while she worked at Marc’s. Nothing was missing.

An Akron woman, 28, was charged with theft Jan. 19 after she allegedly tried to steal goods from Walmart by concealing items in her purse.

Theft

An employee of Sandefur Vega in Mineral City told police that tools valued at $5,081 were stolen from a job site on Mount Pleasant Road.

Hudson

Criminal mischief

Vandals struck Steeplechase Drive on Jan. 21, breaking flower planters, spray-painting doors and driveways, and wrapping a vehicle with cellophane and coating it with urine.

Suspicious activity

Police were called to KinderCare, 5812 Darrow Road, to investigate a man taking pictures of the building Jan. 17. The man told police he was taking pictures of possible places for his friends to skateboard.

New Franklin

Burglary

Someone entered a Cleveland-Massillon Road home Jan. 11 and stole an air-conditioning unit, oven, dishwasher and garage door, total value $4,500.

Norton

Breaking and entering

Someone broke into Milich’s Village Inn, 4444 Cleveland-Massillon Road, on Jan. 21 and took change from 13 candy vending machines.

Someone broke into Brunswick Charger Lanes, 1213 Norton Ave., Jan. 23.

Springfield Township

Arrest

An Akron man, 54, of Kent Court, was arrested Jan. 9 on a felony charge of passing a bad check. Police said he tried to cash a fraudulent $2,401 check at the Huntington Bank branch on East Waterloo Road.

Breaking and entering

Someone pried open a window Jan. 10 at Spring Hill Junior High School, 660 Lessig Ave., and stole a $1,200 laptop computer.

Burglary

Someone broke into a Columbine Avenue home Jan. 13 and stole $2,500 worth of copper pipe.

Theft

Two computer tablets, total value $1,000, were reported stolen Jan. 15 from a classroom at Springfield High School on Sanitarium Road.

Arrests

An Elmwood Avenue boy, 16, was charged Jan. 22 with threatening domestic violence and possessing tobacco.

Burglary

Someone broke into a home in the 1900 block of Bryn Mawr Drive, but fled after triggering an alarm Jan. 19.

Telephone harassment

A man called a Darrow Road dance studio Jan. 16 and threatened to harm an employee.

Theft

A black-and-white Havanese dog was stolen Jan. 16 from a fenced yard on Friar Road.

Arrest

A Milan Street Northwest man, 32, was charged with menacing and resisting arrest after he allegedly stalked a woman. She told police that he approached her in a city park and admitted he was stalking her.

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Delray Avenue Northwest woman, 40, was charged with domestic violence and criminal mischief Jan. 11 after she allegedly went to her ex-husband’s Satinwood Circle Northwest home and tried to hit him with a hammer as he ran down the street.

Thefts

A purse valued at $5,200 was stolen Jan. 14 from the Dillard’s store in Westfield Belden Village Mall.

A medical leg brace, hat and gloves, total value $520, were reported stolen Jan. 10 from a resident at Rose Lane Retirement Home on High Mill Avenue Northwest.

Someone cut a $1,700 convertible top from a car at Chubby’s Ice Cream on South Boulevard Northwest, and stole a CD/DVD player worth $560.

North Canton

Burglary

A safe and ring, total value $530, were reported stolen Jan. 8 from a West Maple Street home.

Plain Township

Arrest

A 44th Street Northwest man was charged with two counts of theft Jan. 11 after he allegedly stole an air-conditioning unit from a Vince Avenue Northwest site and tried to get cash for metal on Maple Avenue Northeast.

Uniontown

Theft

A Carriage Stone Street man told police he paid $9,150 for a car from an eBay seller in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Dec. 17. He has not seen the vehicle or been able to reach the seller.

Medina County

Wadsworth

Arrests

A woman, 28, was arrested Jan. 24 at Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital on warrants alleging deception to obtain a dangerous drug.

Two Akron men, ages 25 and 28, were charged Jan. 20 with four counts of theft after they allegedly stole from Walmart, 222 E. Smokerise Drive.

Arrests

A man, 25, and a woman, 24, both of Mohican Place, were charged with child endangering and disorderly conduct Jan. 19.

Theft

A purse containing cash, gift cards and a debit card was stolen Jan. 20 in the 400 block of East Summit Street.

Wayne County

Thefts

Tools valued at $1,307 were reported stolen Jan. 21 from Airworks, 10680 Dover Road, Salt Creek Township.

A 16-foot trailer worth $6,500 was reported stolen Jan. 18 from Kidron Rental, 12335 Emerson Road, Sugar Creek Township.
