Todd Rains (center) introduces Dr. Melani Sherman (right) and Dr. Umberto Choi to his family at a holiday gathering at the home of his brother Matt Rains in Wadsworth, Ohio. Dr. Choi, a critical care specialist at the Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Sherman, a second year emergency resident at the Akron General Medical Center, kept Todd Rains alive by performing CPR on him after Rains collapsed from cardiac arrest while competing in the Cleveland Triathlon in which Dr. Choi and Dr. Sherman were also competing.
