Numerous activities are planned Tuesday in Northeast Ohio to mark the start of early voting.
Here are a few of them:
* Summit County Executive Russ Pry and Akron Council President Marco Sommeville will have a press conference at 2 p.m. in front of the Summit County Democratic headquarters, 438 Grant St., to discuss early voting. They will then walk next door to the Summit County elections board, 470 Grant St., to cast their absentee ballots. This is on behalf of President Barack Obama's campaign.
* Monique Connors, a retired public employee and Canton NAACP president, will will make remarks about early voting at 10 a.m. outside of the Stark County elections board, 301 Market Ave. N. in Canton.
* Mitt Romney's campaign will hold "Commit to Mitt" early voting kick-off events in Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Mahoning and Franklin counties. The Cuyahoga County event will be at 7:30 a.m. at the campaign's office at 5164-B Wilson Mills Road in Richmond Heights.
Early voting currently runs through 6 p.m. on the Friday before the Nov. 6 election. A lawsuit pending in federal appeals court will determine whether in-person early voting should extend through the three days before the election. Voters have the option of early voting by mail or in person at elections boards.
