Glass artist and woodworker Richard Rossen was inspired by this photograph of a damaged storefront in 1938 to design and create a Tzedakah box that is displayed in the Shaw Jewish Community Center in Akron. The donation box was created to mark the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of Broken Glass when a wave of violent attacks was unleashed on Jews throughout Germany and German occupied areas of Europe. The box replicates a Jewish storefront window. Donations will go to North American Conference on Ethiopian Jewry. (Karen Schiely/Akron Beacon Journal)
