Suicide at stadium
AKRON: Authorities say the body of a 22-year-old man, who apparently committed suicide by shooting himself, was found in the stands at the InfoCision football stadium at the University of Akron Saturday morning.
Greg Bach, director of sports information at the university, said a Akron U UA staffer found the body at 10 a.m. before the kickoff of a 3 p.m. game against Ohio University. The game was played as scheduled.
Akron U University of Akron spokeswoman Laura Massey said police told her the death appears to be a suicide, but no other details were given. The man’s name has not been released, pending notification of the family.
Massey said the man was a former UA student.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
AKRON: Akron police are investigating a motorcycle fatality on East Market Street in front of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. headquarters Saturday afternoon.
Police said the driver was going west on East Market Street about 2 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle. He died in the accident.
His passenger was injured and treated at Summa Akron City Hospital.
Pet rescue to party
AKRON: One of a Kind Pet Rescue will hold a Halloween party from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at 1929 W. Market St. to celebrate the first anniversary at its new adoption center.
WQMX (94.9-FM) will broadcast live from the center from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Pets and their owners are encouraged to come dressed in Halloween costumes to win prizes.
Ward 6 meeting
AKRON: Bob Otterman, the Ward 6 councilman, will have a ward meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ellet Community Center, 2449 Wedgewood Drive.
Officials with the Summit County Consumer Affairs Office and Akron Area Agency on Aging will speak.
AKRON: Summit County Councilman Frank Comunale will host a town-hall meeting to discuss health-care issues from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Henry Callis Tower, 730 Callis Drive.
Comunale, who represents parts of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls, will be available to answer questions and hear concerns from constituents.

Akron U UA fundraiser
AKRON: The University of Akron’s Suarez Applied Marketing Research Laboratories will host the first Mad Scientist Halloween Ball on Friday. 10-28
Proceeds will benefit research.
The event is from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the fifth floor of the Polsky Building. It will feature an open bar, DJ, dance floor, scary movies and treats.
The cost is $75 per person. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.

Free fishing class
COVENTRY TWP.: The Ohio Division of Wildlife will offer a free workshop on Oct. 26 Wednesday for adults or groups interested in taking youth fishing.
The Passport to Fishing workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the district office, 912 Portage Lakes Dr.
