GREEN: Beginning July 1, parents of students in Green schools will be able to pay most fees, including preschool and kindergarten tuition, through an online portal.
EZ Pay also could save parents some money.
Treasurer Eydie Snowberger unveiled the plan this week at a Green Board of Education meeting. She said parents will save $5 on preschool and kindergarten payments by using the new system over the current installment plan.
A $2 cost will be assessed each time EZ Pay is used — no matter how many fees are paid in the same transaction, Snowberger said.
Parents also may cover all fees for more than one child in a single transaction, which in turn reduces book work in the district treasurer’s office, she said.
Those who wish to continue paying by check or cash will be able to do so, Snowberger said.
Those without a computer can visit the treasurer’s office, where an EZ Pay account will be set up and payment made.
Parents will establish an account through the district’s website at http://green localschools.org.
Board members voiced satisfaction, not only with the payment plan, but also with Snowberger for negotiating a $90,000 savings on another contract for the coming year.
Members approved paying Epiphany Management Group $120,000 for technology support from July 1 through June 30, 2013.
Superintendent Michael Nutter said the savings figure was based on this year’s contract of $210,000.
