Other projects in Akron’s proposed capital budget

Other projects in city’s budget

Other projects in Akron’s proposed 2013 capital budget include:

• Debt service on general obligation debt for capital projects. Cost: $35 million in Akron funds.

• Construction of Highland Square grocery store. The city has been approved for a low-interest federal loan and is completing required paperwork and drawings. Cost: $1.5 million in Akron and federal loan funds.

• Replacement of the North Street and Swinehart Avenue bridges. Cost: $2.2 million in Akron, county and federal funds.

• Reconstruction of the deck to the Thornton Street bridge over the CSX and Conrail Railroad from South Broadway to Wolf Ledges Parkway. Cost: $802,000 in Akron and federal funds.

• Boss Park, Grace Park, Mason Park upgrades, including new playground equipment, furnishings and landscaping. Cost: $315,000 in Akron, federal and private funds.

• Copley Road Soccer Complex improvements, including new netting, bathroom fixtures and a drinking fountain. Cost: $100,000 in Joint Economic Development District funds.

• Replacing the deteriorating concrete pavement on Kingswood, Rocky Hollow and Poulsen drives with asphalt. Cost: $1.4 million in Akron and state funds and assessments to property owners.

• Resurfacing Copley Road from Storer Avenue to the corporation line. Cost: $2.1 million in Akron and state funds and assessments to property owners.

• Neighborhood Partnership matching grants of up to $7,500 for neighborhood organizations. Cost: $220,000 in Akron, federal and private funds.
