Beginning Monday, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, which includes several northern Summit County communities, will hold informational workshops for residents and business owners about its Regional Stormwater Management Program.
Beginning January, the sewer district’s customers will be charged a new fee based on the amount of impervious surface on their property, such as driveways, rooftops and patios. The money will be used to support programs to reduce local flooding, decrease erosion and improve water quality.
The district serves Cleveland and 61 suburban communities. Some customers live in the communities of Bath Township, Northfield, Northfield Center Township, Boston Heights, Richfield Township, Richfield Village, Sagamore Hills Township, Hudson, Twinsburg, Twinsburg Township and Macedonia.
For residential customers, property with less than 2000 square feet of impervious surface will be billed $9.09 per quarter, property with 2,000 to 4,000 square feet of impervious surface $15.15 per quarter, and property with more than 4,000 square feet $27.27 per quarter.
At the workshops, representatives will help customers complete credit applications and explain how impervious area is measured and how fees are calculated.
The workshops will be held at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month through April at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District’s administration building, 3900 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.

Additionally, the sewer district launched a new online customer service tool to enable residential and non-residential customers to determine their “stormwater fee” by looking up their property’s address. This tool is available at www. neorsd.org/findmyfee.
