Gov. John Kasich’s State of the State Speech
When: 7 p.m. today.
Place: Medina High School’s Performing Arts Center, 77 E. Union St.
Tickets: None available. Were distributed to the public last week through a random drawing.
Other ways to see/hear the speech: Will be broadcast live in the Medina High School gymnasium, which is across the campus from the performing arts center. Enter door B3 at the northwest corner of the high school, adjacent to the gym, starting at 5:30 p.m. The speech also will be shown live on Channel 37, the local cable-access station in Medina.
Other local events:
The state legislature and various government officials will hold several events across Medina County today. Some, including tours of businesses, receptions for lawmakers and visits to local agencies, are not open to the general public. Others, however, are open, including:
• Health & Aging Committee meeting: 1:30 p.m. in the conference center of Medina Hospital, 1000 E. Washington St., Medina. The committee will discuss and possibly vote on a bill that would require doctors to review patient information before prescribing certain drugs.
• Walk on the Square: At 3 p.m., members of Kasich’s Cabinet and legislators will walk the downtown area of Medina, guided by Main Street Medina Executive Director Matt Wiederhold.
• Watch Party: 6 p.m. at the Summit County Republican Party’s headquarters, 1755 Merriman Road, Suite 250 in Akron. The State of the State speeches, including Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor at 6:15 and Kasich at 7 p.m., will be live-streamed. Pizza and soft drinks will be served. RSVP by calling 330-434-9151 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
