CHICAGO

Teens charged in death

Three Chicago teenagers accused of fatally beating a disabled man and posting video of the attack on Facebook were playing a game that involved finding an innocent victim and trying to knock him out with a punch, investigators allege in court documents released Monday. Delfino Mora, a 62-year-old father of 12, was attacked in an alley last week while searching for cans to make extra money for his family. Authorities said one of the teens punched Mora, who hit his head on the concrete, as the others filmed the attack with a cell phone. They then robbed him of $60. The three, ages 16, 17 and 18, are charged as adults with first-degree murder and are being held without bond.

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA.

Sex abuse allegations

A relative of George Zimmerman claims she was molested by him when they were both children, the latest allegation in the case against the former neighborhood watch volunteer charged in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin. The interview with police, done nearly a month after the February shooting, was made public Monday after local media fought to have it released, over objections from prosecutors and the defense. The woman, identified as witness No. 9 in court documents, said she was fondled, groped and kissed by Zimmerman beginning when she was 6 and he was about 8, when they would see each other at family gatherings. She said it continued until she was about 16. Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara called it an “uncorroborated, irrelevant statement” in court papers.

MINNEAPOLIS

Needles found in food

Delta Air Lines Inc. and the FBI are trying to figure out how needles got into turkey sandwiches served aboard four flights from Amsterdam. One passenger was injured. The airline said that what appear to be sewing needles were found in five sandwiches on Sunday. One passenger on a flight to Minneapolis was injured, but declined to get medical attention, according to Delta spokeswoman Kristin Baur. The other needles were found on separate flights. Baur said flight attendants stopped serving the sandwiches as soon as the first needle was discovered.
