An Akron man whom police said was held at gunpoint until officers arrived to make an arrest has been charged with burglary.
Monte T. Harris, 24, of Bettie Street, was booked into the Summit County Jail. He was scheduled for an initial appearance Monday in Akron Municipal Court.
Police said two residents were awakened about 3 a.m. Sunday when a man climbed through the kitchen window of their Akron home. The male resident then fired a shot at the suspect inside the house.
The suspect ran down into the basement, where the resident held him at gunpoint until Akron police responded.
According to Summit County court records, Harris has a lengthy police record, with charges of assault, theft, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest stemming from incidents since 2008.
