MACEDONIA: The area around Interstate 271 and state Route 82 has seen more than its fair share of construction work over the past few years.
More is on the way.
The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to relocate the northbound entrance ramp from Route 82 onto the highway to connect with a new ramp from South Freeway Drive.
Other improvements are:
• Widening Route 82 to install a sixth lane between Summer Road and the railroad bridge. The additional lane will serve as a left-turn lane.
• Lengthening the left-turn lanes from Route 82 to South Freeway and Macedonia Commons Boulevard.
• Widening South Freeway to provide a left-turn lane onto the new I-271 northbound entrance ramp.
The $2 million project is scheduled to get underway next fall.
The widening of Route 82 will involve taking up to 10 feet of right-of-way from Macedonia Memorial Park, also known as Town Center Park, and relocating the sidewalk and utilities there. The city owns the park.
An open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at Macedonia City Hall, 9691 Valley View Road, to talk about the improvements. No formal presentation will be made.
ODOT will solicit public comments at the meeting.
