NEWTON FALLS: An Ohio veterans hall is drawing criticism from other veterans for flying its flag at half-staff every day, in honor of U.S. troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the VFW in Newton Falls, post Commander Ray Hanzes says it's a tribute to Americans who paid the supreme sacrifice and whose family and friends typically mourn alone.
Post official and Vietnam veteran Robert Cameron adds that the flag is flown at half-staff for ''personalities,'' so it's only fair to do the same for fallen troops.
National Veterans of Foreign Wars officials don't see it that way. VFW director of programs Steve Van Buskirk has written the northeast Ohio post that it is showing disrespect, because the flag is only to fly at half-staff for the deaths of officials.
