Police raid Youngstown-area warehouse for flea-market fakes worth millions

By Associated Press

MONROE: Police say an investigation of flea markets in Southwest Ohio led them to a warehouse they believe is a counterfeiting hub for knockoff designer purses in the Midwest.

Police say the merchandise, which included fake Prada, Chanel and Louis Vuitton handbags and accessories, was worth $15 million to $20 million.

A team of private investigators raided the warehouse in suburban Youngstown on Friday.

Authorities are seeking indictments against two men and a woman, all from New York City, where police say the merchandise enters the United States.

The investigation started with a roundup of two dozen vendors in May at the Traders World flea market north of Cincinnati.
