A Basin Terrace man, 34, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property. Police said the man was seen getting into and stealing a 1991 Oldsmobile Delta 88. The man ran from the vehicle when he realized he was being followed by the father of the vehicle owner.
A Storer Avenue man, 20, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon illegally and tampering with evidence. Police attempted to pull over a vehicle that failed to stop at Peerless Avenue and Cadillac Boulevard. The man, a front-seat passenger, ran from the vehicle and was apprehended after a brief chase. He had a loaded .45-caliber pistol, more than $2,000 and a bag containing cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin, officers said. In relation to this incident, an East Market Street man, 21, and a Gale Street man, 20, were charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon illegally and tampering with evidence.
A Cleveland man, 42, was charged with burglary, receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools after police said a mail carrier alerted them that the man was inside an unoccupied house in the 1700 block of Honodle Avenue. Officers found the suspect inside the house with pipe cutters, a screwdriver and three sets of keys. One set of keys belonged to a car parked outside of the house. The car was reported stolen in Cleveland Heights.
A White Oak Drive, Norton man, 22, was charged with possessing heroin and drug instruments in a vehicle parked at a gas station at East Avenue and Clearview Street.
A 22nd Street Southwest man, 24, was charged with possessing heroin and drug paraphernalia.
A Becker Lane man, 33, was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly punched, pushed and grabbed his father. The father suffered injuries to his left forearm and elbow and bumps on his head.
A Marcy Street man, 49, was charged with felonious assault after he allegedly was involved in a fight Jan. 3 at Elks Lodge bar on Moore Street. The man pulled out a small box cutter and cut the victim’s throat, causing serious injury, police said.
A Hyde Street man, 26, was charged with burglary after police said he broke into a house in the 800 block of Stadelman Avenue.
A Sandusky man, 31, was charged with possessing heroin and trafficking in heroin. He was arrested following a brief chase.
A Koerber Avenue man, 30, was charged with possessing heroin and Oxycodone, manufacturing drugs, possessing a weapon illegally and possessing criminal tools. Police said the Street Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at his residence and recovered heroin, handguns, a grinder, digital scales and pain pills.
A Baughman Street man, 30, was charged with possessing cocaine and trafficking in cocaine after a traffic stop at Superior and Russell avenues.
A laptop computer and Sony PlayStation 3 unit, total value $550, were stolen Dec. 27 from a Valley Avenue home. The thief entered an unlocked window.
A Norwood Street man told police Dec. 26 that someone stole a $500 electronic tablet from the home while he was asleep.
A Fifth Street man told police Dec. 26 that someone pried open his storage unit in the common area of his apartment complex and stole a $100 circular saw and several other items, total value $225.
Four men, ages 20 and 21, were charged with breaking and entering Jan. 4. Police investigating a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of an unoccupied home in the 2000 block of Glengary Road found the car empty and the men inside the home.
A Barberton man, 37, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 2 after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the nose.
Two Akron men, ages 22 and 39, were charged with receiving stolen property Jan. 2 after they allegedly tried to sell stolen bowling equipment to Play it Again Sports, 661 Howe Ave.
An Akron man, 26, was charged with possessing heroin and drug abuse instruments Jan. 4 at an apartment in the 1600 block of 20th Street.
Breaking and entering
Copper pipes and a water heater were taken Jan. 6 from a vacant home in the 3100 block of Elmwood Street.
A woman reported Jan. 8 that three men forced their way into her home in the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue while her baby sitter was there with the children. A television was taken.
Someone broke into an apartment Jan. 4 in the 1500 block of Front Street and stole $700 in money orders and checks.
Someone caused $1,000 worth of damage to a home in the 2300 block of 14th Street by puncturing several holes in the siding.
A washing machine was taken from the laundry room of an apartment building in the 1500 block of Front Street on Jan. 3.
Theft of utilities
An electric department employee reported Jan. 2 that someone reconnected electric service to an apartment in the 1000 block of Clyde Avenue after the employee disconnected the service.
An Akron woman, 34, was charged with theft Jan. 4 after she allegedly tried to conceal $43.19 in Walmart merchandise in her purse.
Two Akron women, 30 and 27, were charged with theft and trespassing Jan. 4 after they allegedly tried to steal $133 in merchandise from Macy’s Department Store in Summit Mall. The suspects had previously been banned from the store.
An Akron man, 45, was charged with theft Jan. 3 after he allegedly took six North Face jackets, total value, $894, from Macy’s.
Two youths, 12 and 13, were charged with theft Jan. 3 after they allegedly stole $40 in goods from Spencer’s Gifts in Summit Mall.
A Nye Drive man, 36, was issued a summons for a dangerous and vicious dog Jan 3. His pit bull attacked another person’s dogs, police said. No one was injured.
An Akron man, 19, was charged with theft Jan. 2 after he allegedly tried to walk out of Macy’s wearing a Cleveland Indians cap worth $35.
A Big Island, Fla., woman told deputies at Akron-Canton Airport on Dec. 29 that her luggage had been tampered with in transit from Jacksonville. Glasses, frames and other items, total value $620, were stolen.
An Old Farm Lane man reported Jan. 1 someone took money from his wallet.
Officers were called to Ash Global on Gilchrist Road on Jan. 6 for a report of two men stealing scrap metal from a bin. The men were gone by the time officers arrived.
A Tallmadge man, 22, was arrested Jan. 4 after a traffic stop. Marijuana was found in the vehicle during a search.
A clerk at the Circle K on West Nimisila Road told police Dec. 28 that a man entered the store inquiring about cigars, then left as several customers came in. As he left, the clerk said the man had his hand on the butt of a handgun.
The total amount of damage due to turfing at the Manchester High School football and baseball fields by an SUV or ATV was listed as significant, according to a report filed with police Dec. 26.
In examining phone records, a West Nimisila Road resident associated with a Cleveland firm discovered bogus charges on his phone statement totaling $665 to a business in Dover, Del.

Breaking and entering
Someone broke into a storage building at E.L. Stone Co., 2998 Eastern Road and took copper wire.
A Lessig Avenue girl, 13, was booked at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on Dec. 30 after she and another teen argued and the suspect bit the victim’s arm.
A West Waterloo Road 11-year-old was referred to Summit County Juvenile Court on Dec. 12 after being stopped trying to leave the Walmart store on South Arlington Road with a cart carrying three 32-inch, flat-screen TVs, total value $774.
Police were called to the Office Motel on Massillon Road on Dec. 22 and began an investigation into claims of a Lakemore woman, 35, who said she was raped by both an acquaintance and a stranger.
A Dec. 14 police report indicated an employee at John Boy’s Farm Market on Canton Road was told by a caller that the business’s electric was to be turned off unless $1,003 was paid in cash. The money was paid before personnel learned the call didn’t come from the electric company, police said.
A Bridgewater Parkway man, 57, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 6 after he allegedly assaulted his stepdaughter, 20.
Breaking and entering
Nearly $100 was taken when someone broke into Munroe Muffler, 4542 Kent Road, Dec. 21.
A home in the 3000 block of Cambridge Drive was broken into Jan. 4. Nearly $6,000 in jewelry and other items were taken.
A Pardee Road man, 38, reported Jan. 6 that between Oct 1 and Jan. 6, a woman he knows used his personal information to create an email address. The woman then sent herself threatening emails that appeared to be coming from him. Police are investigating.
Misuse of a credit card
A Lawson Drive man, 43, reported Jan. 2 that between Nov. 5 and Dec. 14, someone made unauthorized charges totaling more than $1,600 to his credit card.
Police are investigating a Jan. 2 report that an 11-year-old child was sexually assaulted.
A Cuyahoga Falls man, 38, was charged Jan. 5 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, child endangering, hit-skip, and failing to maintain an assured clear distance, causing an accident. He is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident on Northwest Avenue. He was arrested at his home.
Breaking and entering
A vacant home on Otoe Avenue was broken into between Dec. 7 and Jan. 6. Appliances were taken.
A home in the 90 block of Indian Hills Drive was broken into Dec. 27, according to a Jan. 6 report. About $700 was taken.
A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported Dec. 31 that she received notices from utility companies about delinquent bills for service at a Southeast Avenue residence. She discovered the accounts were opened in her name by a relative.
A Walnut Hill Apartment resident was cited Jan. 4 for disturbing the peace for playing her TV too loud. She was cited an hour after officers told her to turn down the TV.
A man was arrested during a traffic stop Jan. 2 on Pearl Road.
Officers caught a man from Lima turfing the field at the Medina County Fairgrounds on Jan. 5. He was cited.
Police were called to Northland Drive on Jan. 3 after a customer’s car became stuck in a car wash. The car had to be towed.
Officers were called to a Medina Road motel Jan. 2 after a woman was assaulted. A Medina man was arrested.
Officers were called to a Medina Road gas station Jan. 5 after a clerk complained that a couple in a white Buick Riviera had been “making out” for two hours. The couple was asked to move on.
A Hedgewood Drive resident called police to complain that light smoke was coming from the granite tile in the bathroom. The tile was hot to the touch. The homeowner told police the bathroom recently had been remodeled.
A Trease Road man reported Jan. 4 that personal checks were stolen, forged and cashed between Dec. 10 and Jan. 4.
Theft by deception
A Third Street man reported Jan. 7 that a man came to his door Dec. 27 and persuaded him to pay cash for a newspaper subscription. When the paper was not delivered, he thought he had been scammed. Police were able to identify a suspect. The newspaper confirmed to police that the suspect, who collected the money, did not work for the paper.
A Hard Street resident reported Jan. 3 that someone took nearly $500 from his checking account.
A Dodge Street man, 18, was arrested Jan. 3 on charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A Dodge Street man, 50, was arrested Jan. 4 on a Portage County warrant alleging aggravated possession of drugs and resisting arrest.
A South Water Street man, 39, was charged Jan. 5 with domestic violence and abduction.
A Cleveland man, 36, was charged with aggravated burglary, domestic violence, unlawful restraint and two counts of child endangering Jan. 5 over an incident at a home in the 600 block of Ada Street.
A North Canal Street man, 56, and a second man, 55, were apprehended Dec. 29 at their residence on breaking and entering and theft warrants for each.
An Audubon Street man, 37, was arrested on a robbery warrant when stopped on Interstate 77 at South Arlington Road in Green on Dec. 26.
A Traphagen Street Northwest woman, 61, was jailed on Christmas Eve after police said she admitted to hitting her son several times in the head during an argument.
A $2,000 laptop computer was stolen from a Bloomsbury Circle Northwest home Dec. 23, police were told.
A Beatty Street Northwest woman told police Dec. 29 that she learned her credit card number and name were used to purchase $1,043 worth of items online. She also was told that the purchases were voided.
An $850 cellphone belonging to a Lake Township man, 20, was taken from a kiosk at Belden Village Mall on Dec. 20.
Police learned Dec. 20 that someone took a credit card from an unsecured drawer in the office of Kindercare Preschool on Dressler Road Northwest. Several attempts were made to use the card, but the person was only successful twice for a total of $526.
A Massillon woman told police Dec. 15 she was trying on clothes at Sears in the Belden Village Mall when her $800 cellphone was stolen from her purse.
A Michelle Drive man was charged with domestic violence Dec. 28 after he allegedly pushed his wife and daughter and threw a computer at the daughter. He was arrested at a neighbor’s house, police said.
A flat-screen TV and several other items, total value $2,750, were reported stolen Nov. 28 from an Ambler Avenue Southwest residence.
A Canton man, 31, of Struble Avenue Northeast, was charged with domestic violence New Year’s Eve after he allegedly slapped his girlfriend several times at an Edelweiss Street Northeast home before she sprayed him with Mace.
A Middlebranch Avenue Northeast woman, 19, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 29 after she allegedly hit a man twice in the head.
A Lake Township man, 49, of Prince Georges Avenue was jailed on charges of domestic violence and felony abduction Jan. 2 after police said he waved a large knife, causing the daughter to fear he would harm her and her mother.
Two Lexington Township men were arrested and summoned to Canton Municipal Court for alleged thefts at the Hartville Collectibles on Edison Street on Dec. 20. An Elmside Street man, 37, admitted taking items for use as Christmas gifts, while a Johnson Avenue man, 36, said he tried to do the same but panicked and returned the items. Both men were banned from HRM properties.
An Edison Street man told police Dec. 29 that two acquaintances stopped by his house and left with property valued at $740.
A television valued at $228 was reported stolen Jan. 7 from a home in the 15300 block of Rittman Road, Chippewa Township.
A lock box with $3,300 was reported stolen Dec. 31 from a residence in the 2400 block of South Carr Road, East Union Township.

A Chester Township woman made repeated 911 calls Jan. 6 from a home in the 8900 block of Matty Road, a report said.
A person who was taken into the Wayne County Jail on Jan. 8 had three baggies of white powder, a report said.
A Wooster Township man reported Jan. 7 that someone set up automatic withdrawals from an account without his authorization.
A cellphone, checkbook and other items worth $53 were reported taken Jan. 7 from an unlocked car in the 7400 block of East Lincoln Way, East Union Township.
A generator worth $2,400 was reported taken Jan. 6 from a residence in the 15800 block of Galehouse Road, Chippewa Township.
Speakers valued at $1,450 were reported stolen Jan. 1 from a garage in the 10400 block of Sterling Street, Salt Creek Township.
Two diamond rings and a gold ring, total value $4,750, were reported taken Dec. 30 from a home in the 5600 block of South Honeytown Road, Franklin Township.
A Wooster Township resident reported Dec. 10 that Vicodin was taken from a home in the 400 block of Westview Drive.
An antique coin collection and a handgun valued at $600 were reported stolen Dec. 15 from a home in the 17400 block of Edwards Drive, Chippewa Township.
A Wooster woman, 28, was arrested Nov. 14 on charges of assault and harassment with bodily substance at a residence in the 400 block of Spink Street.
An Apple Creek man, 57, and a Wooster man, 48, were arrested Jan. 4 on charges of possession of drugs after police said they discarded methamphetamines at South Buckeye and East Henry streets.
A Wii game system, 20 games and other items, total value $4,121, were reported stolen Jan. 4 from a residence in the 300 block of N. Grant Street.
Possession of drugs
During a traffic stop Jan. 8 at Madison Avenue and South Buckeye Street, a person was found to have a crack cocaine pipe.
A diamond ring and an iPad valued at $1,150 were reported taken Jan. 1 from a residence in the 2500 block of Windsor Drive.
A Holmesville man, 31, reported Jan. 2 that someone gave him $3,500 in checks to deposit in his account at a Walnut Street bank that later were found to be fraudulent.
