A 17-year-old Wooster Road North boy was taken to the Summit County Detention Center for domestic violence Sept. 2 after a resident said he tried to slice her tires with a knife. He was disarmed by several people. After they left, the suspect then threw a brick, damaging the victim’s car.
A Barberton mother told police Aug. 30 that her daughter, now 16, was possibly sexually assaulted by the mother’s ex-husband between 2001 and 2007 while the couple was married.
A report was made Sept. 1 in which a female patient at Barberton Summa Hospital said she was fondled by a male patient, 76. The suspect said the patient was crying because of pain and he patted her on the back and then returned to his room.
An Ettle Drive couple told police Sept. 3 that several items, including a $2,500 diamond ring, were stolen from their residence while they were away.
A necklace and other items, total value $680, were stolen from a Benton Street home and Horton Photographic Studio, an Aug. 30 police report noted.
A Wadsworth woman said Sept. 3 that someone cut the $900 catalytic converter from a car she was purchasing from her husband’s boss. The incident occurred while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot on Wooster Road North.
A Wooster Road West resident told police Sept. 1 that someone drove onto his property and stole two aluminum garage doors, total value $1,000.
A Parkview Avenue man reported Aug. 30 that over a period of time someone used his credit card number to make several unauthorized purchases totaling $2,200. Police are investigating.
Two vehicles parked in the 2300 block of Ira Road were entered Sept. 11. Purses containing credit cards were taken from both.
A man told police Sept. 5 that $738 had been stolen from his checking account. There were 15 unauthorized transactions from his account starting on Aug. 14.
A Boston avenue woman told authorities Aug. 30 that her debit card account had been compromised and several online purchases had been made, totaling $1,304.
Two Tallmadge men, ages 22 and 31, were charged Sept. 6 with illegal assembly of chemicals to manufacture methamphetamine. The younger man also was charged with possession of meth, while the older man faces an additional charge of possession of a hypodermic needle. They were arrested during a traffic stop on State Road at Portage Trail.
A 14-year-old Hanover Street boy was charged Sept. 6 with assault. He is accused of striking another juvenile.
A 31-year-old Tallmadge Road woman reported Sept. 9 that someone broke into her apartment and ransacked a dresser drawer.
A purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in a lot in the 400 block of Howe Avenue on Sept. 8.
The owner of Central Instruments, 739 Portage Trail, reported Sept. 10 that two people brought in a stolen trumpet, valued at $1,000, to sell. When the suspects realized the police had been notified, they fled in a black SUV.
A resident reported a burglary attempt Sept. 10. He said the suspect attacked him with a knife and he fended off the attacker with a pair of pliers. The intruder fled into the woods near Elia Circle.
Two Finish Line employees, ages 24 and 26, were arrested on theft charges on Sept. 9. The two allegedly stole $890 worth of merchandise over a three-month period starting in July. During questioning by a district manager, one suspect fled. He later turned himself in.
Someone broke into a parked vehicle at Faith Lutheran Church. Witnesses reported seeing a man smash the rear passenger window. The loss was estimated at $420.
A Struthers woman, 59, was jailed Sept. 1 on a felony warrant charging her with passing bad checks in Green when she was found at a South Arlington Road location.
Charges of aggravated menacing and felony carrying a concealed weapon were filed against a Canton man, 20, of 10th Street Northwest, on Aug. 30. The man allegedly brought a handgun to his employer’s business on Massillon Road and a co-worker saw the handgun, which a deputy found during a pat-down of the suspect.
Breaking and entering
Vehicle parts valued at $1,070 were reported stolen Aug. 30 from a Greensburg Road detached garage.
Six rings and nine pairs of earrings, total value $1,900, were stolen Sept. 3 from a home on Saturn Drive.
A Mayfair Road man told authorities Sept. 3 that someone took several items, total value $945, from his truck bed while the vehicle was parked at the rear of his property.
Sheriff’s deputies are trying to identify the suspect who rented a room at the Super 8 Motel on Corporate Woods Parkway on Aug. 28 and then left with a flat-screen TV and remote and a coffee maker, total value $860. The Ravenna address given by the suspect turned out to be bogus, according to an investigator’s report.
Officers were called to a residence on Cleveland Avenue on Sept. 9 for a theft inside a vacant house. Someone stole 80 to 100 feet of copper pipes from the residence.
A 26-year-old Barberton man was charged Sept. 10 with assault. He is accused of striking his ex-girlfriend at her home.
A 39-year-old Samuel Road woman was summoned to Akron Municipal Court on a charge of domestic menacing after an altercation with her husband at an Akron bar Aug. 29 and accusations that she smashed his vehicle’s windshield with a baseball bat. The fight then resumed at their home, where she is accused of damaging the front door and then ramming her vehicle into the garage door before fleeing.
A Summit County sheriff’s deputy was driving home from work on Massillon Road when she said she saw a man grab a woman in a bear hug in the Akron Coach parking lot. The deputy detained the Copley man, 43, of Burnwyke Court, until police arrived and jailed him on a felony domestic violence charge. The girlfriend, 42, of the same address was summoned to court for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
A Rhoadesdale Avenue man, 32, was jailed for felony domestic violence Aug. 29 after his girlfriend told police he slapped her in the back of the head and threw her against a bathroom door.
A 53-year-old Munroe Falls man was arrested Sept. 11 on charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
A woman reported Sept. 9 that someone she knows left a dog tied to a tree in her yard.
Several car windows were broken with rocks Sept. 12.
Misuse of credit cards
A Clearbrook Drive woman reported Sept. 12 that someone used her debit card account to make more than $1,400 in fraudulent charges.
A man reported Sept. 12 that he was driving in the 2400 block of Call Road when he saw a naked man in the front yard of a home. Police found the man in the garage, still wearing no clothes.
A 25-year-old woman reported Sept. 11 that a man hugged, kissed and touched her inappropriately without consent. Police are investigating.
An Akron woman and a male accomplice, accused of stealing a shopping cart full of soda and steaks Sept. 9, face theft charges. The woman also is charged with possession of heroin in Springfield Township. The manager of Acme, 600 South Ave., told police the man loaded the cart and then left the store without paying. The man threw some of the stolen items in the open back window of the car, then shouted for the driver to go when he saw the manager. Police were able to find the woman through the agency where she rented the vehicle. Springfield police stopped the vehicle two hours later. Since her accomplice was not in the vehicle when she was stopped, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
A 21-year-old Northwest Avenue woman told police Sept. 10 that she was contacted on the Internet by someone who asked her to deposit a $3,500 cashier’s check, keep $400 for her trouble, and wire the rest to Lagos, Nigeria. Several days later, she learned the check was counterfeit.
The Brunswick Auto Mart on Center Road reported Sept. 10 that someone had removed 12 wheels from three cars parked at the dealership. The thief brought two scissor jacks and 12 cinder blocks. The loss is estimated at $6,000.
Police were called to Canterbury Lane on Sept. 7 after reports of a suspicious man knocking on the door. It turned out to be an intoxicated man knocking on the wrong door.
Officers were called to a residence on Gates Mills Boulevard on Sept. 9 to assist someone who had fallen into a closet.
Officers were called to East Reagan Parkway for a report of a suspicious person on Sept. 11. Officers found a man lying in the grass exercising.
Officers were called Sept. 8 to check out a suspicious bag on the side of the road on Shady Brook. A Victoria’s Secret bag and another bag of lingerie were found on the side of the road. The packaging appeared to be old.
Police were called to Churchill Way on Sept. 12 for a report of someone walking around a backyard with a flashlight. Officers discovered it was a homeowner watering his lawn in the dark.
Officers were called to a residence on Triple Crown Drive on Sept. 11 for a reported theft from a garage. A homeowner reported that someone had taken a box of linens.
A 21-year-old West Bergey Street man was arrested Sept. 11 on a warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.
A First Street woman was arrested Sept. 12 on a charge of domestic violence.
Police are investigating three break-ins reported Sept. 10. Video game systems and other items were taken from residences in the 1800 block of Choctaw Place and the 900 block of Carlisle Court. Copper pipes were taken from a vacant home in the 700 block of Vine Street.
A 30-year-old Indian Valley Drive man was charged Sept. 11 with domestic violence.
A 27-year-old Cuyahoga Street man was arrested Sept. 11 on warrants for receiving stolen property and forgery.
A 41-year-old West Main Street man was charged Sept. 10 with domestic violence.
A Green resident, 29, of East Caston Road was jailed when arrested at her home Sept. 4 on warrants for forgery and theft, both felonies.
Police jailed a Mesa Circle Northwest woman, 47, for domestic violence Sept. 5 after her husband said she struck him in the chest with her fist and pushed him.
A Jackson police warrant for passing bad checks led to the arrest Aug. 29 of a Canton woman, 34, of 17th Street Northeast.
A $600 cast iron bench was reported stolen Sept. 1 from outside the front door of the Ink Asylum on Whipple Avenue Northwest.
An estimated $2,500 worth of scrap metal was reported stolen Aug. 31 from the former Taco Bell restaurant in the 5400 block of Whipple Avenue Northwest. A contractor said the building was damaged and several light poles and signs were cut down in order to steal them. The building has since been demolished and the property cleared.
A township woman said she was at Marc’s on Belden Village Street Northwest on Aug. 30 when her wallet was removed from her purse in her shopping cart. The culprit allegedly stole $400 in cash and $200 in gift cards, which were used shortly after the theft.
A Ramsgate Street Northwest man, 41, was jailed for domestic violence and resisting arrest after a Stark sheriff’s deputy was told that the suspect grabbed his son and a friend by the throat and hit them several times Sept. 2.
A Boston Avenue Northwest man, 31, was jailed on a warrant for felony receiving stolen property Sept. 3 after a debit card and other items were stolen from a locker at the North Canton YMCA on South Main Street. Police said the suspect was identified after local store video captured him using the card.
Police were notified Aug. 27 that four adult CPR manikins and one baby version, total value $4,500, were loaned to a suspect by the Schroer Group – Absolute Health Services on East Maple Street and never returned.
A Cottington Drive Northwest man, 36, was jailed for domestic violence Sept. 2 for allegedly threatening to murder the victim several times as they drove to their residence.
An Englewood Drive Northeast woman, 21, was jailed on charges of domestic violence and disorderly conduct Aug. 31 for allegedly striking her grandmother during an argument.
An Orrville man, 23, was arrested Sept. 7 on charges of theft and receiving stolen property after it was reported that he took a 2007 Toyota from a residence in the 2600 block of Eby Road in Green Township.
A West Salem man, 35, was arrested Sept. 2 on a charge of conveyance of drugs after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at a 60-year- old man at a residence in the 9700 block of North Elyria Road in Congress Township.

Tools valued at $1,940 were reported taken Sept. 6 from a storage unit in the 4600 block of West Sterling Road in Congress Township.
An East Union Township woman reported Sept. 3 that someone ransacked her car and a storage unit in the 100 block of Partridge Street.
A gift card, $50 and other items, total value $203, were reported taken Sept. 7 from a residence in the 12500 block of Back Massillon Road in Baughman Township.
A Congress Township woman reported Sept. 3 that a man and a woman came to her residence in the 8000 block of West Britton Road looking for her son who allegedly owed them money. When she said that he wasn’t there, she reported that they drove by shooting bullets into the home.
A Canaan Township resident reported that someone used his social security number to get a $650 loan online.
Triway schools officials reported Sept. 6 that an employee is suspected of taking $2,020 earned by a booster club from a safe at Triway High School, 3205 Shreve Road, Wooster Township.
Steel scrap valued at $1,580 was reported taken Sept. 7 from a residence in the 12600 block of Clinton Road in Chippewa Township.
A lawn tractor and a mower worth $16,000 were reported stolen Sept. 4 from Sterling Farm Equipment, 13893 Kauffman Ave., Milton Township.
A laptop computer, vehicle engine blower and other items, total value $5,000, were reported stolen Aug. 31 from Route 3 Auto, 11441 Cleveland Road, Canaan Township.
