Beacon Journal staff report
Twinsburg police are looking for a driver who may have tried to lure two 8-year-old girls into a vehicle Monday afternoon.
The incident took place after the second-grade girls exited a school bus in the Lake Plata subdivision around 4:15 p.m.
According to police, the girls were walking near Jennifer Drive and Bridget Lane when a dark-colored SUV full of people pulled over. Several passengers inside the vehicle motioned for the girls to get inside the SUV and used candy as an enticement, police said.
“Come in the car and we will give you candy,” someone inside the SUV said, according to the girls.
Instead, the girls ran home and told their parents. Police went to the area, but could not find the SUV.
The girls described the driver as a white woman with shoulder-length blond hair. A teenage boy was a passenger in the front seat and there were several red-haired kids with freckles riding in the back.
In their reports, police noted the consistency of each child’s statements and the fact that a third student recalled seeing a similar vehicle in the area last week.
School officials have notified parents of the incident.
