Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel has agreed to speak at an Akron Press Club luncheon.
When initially asked in December to address the group, Mandel’s campaign said he didn’t have any time in his schedule.
Mandel, the leading GOP challenger to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, will be the featured speaker during a March 1 press club luncheon.
The event will be a few days before the March 6 primary in which Mandel faces five other Republican candidates.
Brown spoke to the press club earlier this month. He noted Mandel’s unwillingness at that point to agree to a date to speak to the press club.
“The Ohio Senate race is expected to be one of the most closely watched in the nation, and we are delighted that he will take this opportunity to speak to and hear from an Akron audience,” said M.L. Schultze, president of the Akron Press Club and news director at WKSU-FM public radio.
The buffet luncheon begins at 11:45 a.m., with the program following at the University of Akron’s Martin Center, 105 Fir Hill.
