Record high temperature set at Akron-Canton Airport before warmth heads out of town

A new record high temperature for Jan. 30 — 64 degrees — was set at 9:09 a.m. at the Akron-Canton Airport. The previous high was 61 on this day in 1947. Temperatures immediately began declining and had fallen about 8 degrees by 10 a.m.

The unseasonable warmth will be short-lived, however, as the National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the Akron area to plummet throughout Wednesday to a low of 25 degrees overnight. There is a chance of snow before midnight.

According to the weather service, Thursday’s high will be 27 degrees and the temperature is expected to peak at 20 on Friday.
