MANTUA: The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is holding a stream-monitoring workshop July 18 on the Upper Cuyahoga River.
The workshop is from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mantua Village Park.
Volunteers are needed on six scenic rivers in Northeast Ohio to monitor for fish and aquatic insects.
Advance reservations are required.
The workshop is free and open to the public.

STOW: The William Wetmore Chapter Daughters of 1812 will conduct a memorial ceremony at 10:30 a.m. July 20 at Stow Cemetery, 3162 Kent Road.
The ceremony will honor the 29 veterans of the War of 1812 buried in Stow.
Relay for Life
WADSWORTH: The American Cancer Society will hold its seventh Relay for Life in Wadsworth from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday at the Wadsworth High School Track, 625 Broad St.
The theme of the event is “Bon Voyage to Cancer.” Wadsworth Mayor Robin Laubaugh is serving as the captain.
The society’s goal is to raise $45,000 for research, education, local patient services and advocacy.
Numerous musicians will perform and activities for children will be available.
Everyone is invited to participate in the free event by becoming a sponsor, creating a team, joining a team or just attending.
Events will include a survivor lap, children’s coloring contest, water balloon toss, karaoke hour, butterfly release, luminaria walk, sunrise service and a fight back ceremony.
