Body found in river
KENT: The body of a 28-year-old Kent man reported missing Sept. 16 was found Saturday floating in the Cuyahoga River.
Dead is Dante Warren.
A group of kayakers discovered his body in the river near Stow Street about 12:20 p.m.
Warren’s body was recovered by the Kent Fire Department and the Portage County Water Rescue Team, assisted by the Kent Police Department.
A relative identified the body, the Portage County Coroner’s Office told WEWS-TV (Channel 5).
Kent police said an investigation was underway.
Last day to recycle
STOW: Thursday will be the last day this year to recycle household hazardous wastes at Summit County’s facility.
Hours at the Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center are 2 to 8 p.m. at 1201 Graham Road at state Route 8.
The recycle center will reopen June 5.
The facility is owned and operated by ReWorks, also known as the Summit-Akron Solid Waste Management Authority.
The recycling operation is free (tires cost $1 each to recycle) and is limited to Summit County residents.

Towpath to close
The National Park Service is temporarily closing a section of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
The trail from Hillside Road in Valley View north to Lock 39 Trailhead in Independence will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting Monday and running through Friday.
The closure is necessary to apply crushed limestone to the trail.
The closure will affect southbound runs on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Passengers must board at the Canal Visitor Center off Canal Road in Valley View.
Park to be repaired
The National Park Service is closing facilities in the Virginia Kendall Area of Cuyahoga Valley National Park for paving and storm sewer improvements in Boston Township.
The Octagon Shelter off Truxell Road will be closed Tuesday through Oct. 2.
The Ledges Area off Truxell Road will be closed Oct. 3 through Oct. 10.
The Virginia Kendall Lake Area will be closed Oct. 11 through Oct. 18.
In addition, there will be limited access to the Kendall Lake parking lot from Tuesday through Oct. 4.
The closures will not affect trails or rest rooms in the Virginia Kendall area.

Gas drilling is topic
COPLEY TWP.: The Copley Homeowners Association will hold a public meeting on oil and gas well drilling at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Copley Community Center, 1278 Sunset Drive.
Guest speaker Terry Bell, secretary of Jefferson County Township Association and a Salem Township trustee, will share information on the oil and gas operations in Jefferson County.
Site cleaned up
CANTON: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a covenant not to sue for the Stein Industrial Park, a 7.4-acre site at 1551 Belden Ave. SE.
The property is best known as the former home of the National Iron and Metal Co.
The site was cleaned up through the efforts of the city of Canton and Bruening Shepler Associates Inc. Contaminated soils were removed.
The site will likely be developed into a warehouse and distribution center.
TALLMADGE: The Rensel for Council committee will host a fall cookout from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Richie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Ave.
The cookout will include a guest appearance from Ohio Rep. Anthony DeVitis, R-Green, and will offer grilled chicken, hamburgers and hotdogs.
Suggested donations are $25 per person, $40 for a couple, $20 for seniors and kids 10 or younger are free.
