A workshop to help girls and young women avoid abusive relationships will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Medina Presbyterian Church, 5020 Burgundy Bay Blvd.
The Safe Dating Workshop is designed for high school-aged girls but will include helpful information for college age women and others. It will provide tips on how to spot patterns of intimidation and control in relationships; how to prevent emotional and physical abuse; how to escape abusive relationships and how to help friends who are victims of abuse.
The event, which is free, will be facilitated by Melissa Pearce, executive director of the Domestic Violence Project Inc. of Canton and a member of the church. A representative from the Battered Women's Shelter of Summit and Medina counties will also participate in the presentation and provide information on resources available to victims of violence or abuse.
