The son of the mayor of Cuyahoga Falls appeared in Akron Municipal Court on Saturday on a second drug trafficking charge filed in the past several weeks.

Nicholas A. Walters, 19, of 10th Street, made an initial appearance before Judge Jerry K. Larson on one count of trafficking heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

According to court records, Walters is accused of selling between 1 and 5 grams of heroin to a confidential police informant in the 1200 block of East Tallmadge Avenue on Jan. 9.

Walters was arrested on the charge Saturday.

The new charge comes just more than a month after Walters was arrested on a warrant for trafficking marijuana in Cuyahoga Falls. That case was bound over to a Summit County grand jury Dec. 13.

Both arrests were made by the Summit County Drug Unit.

Larson set a $10,000, 10 percent bond, and ordered Walters to return to court with his attorney today.

Walters is being held in the Summit County Jail.

His father, Mayor Don Walters, declined to comment.
