If you weren't lucky or fast enough to score tickets for the most anticipated concert of the decade, you aren't alone.
Tonight's 7 p.m. concert, The Best of Both Worlds Tour featuring 14-year-old songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney hit series ''Hannah Montana,'' is sold out - all 16,000 tickets, said Quicken Loans Arena Corporate Communications Director Phyllis Salem.
But those heading downtown tonight who do have tickets should be warned they may not be able to take their usual route to the arena. Cleveland police will be altering traffic patterns this evening, especially for the concert, Salem said.
''Parents can drop off their children at the Ontario drop-off site, but they may not be able to pick them up there,'' Salem warns.
Rather than risking lost children and panicked adults, Quicken Loans is asking parents to park their cars and accompany kids to an arena door with arrangements to meet at the same spot after the show is over, Salem said.
Parents who want to stay for the concert, but don't have tickets, may go to the Time Warner Cable entrance at the corner of Ontario and Huron avenues to stay in the Parents' Club during the concert. Light refreshments and televisions will be provided. Salem warns that once parents enter the room, they won't be able to check on their children until the show is over. Only ticketed concert goers will be permitted into the show, she said.
Children who don't have tickets for tonight's concerts can still tour the Hannah Montana interactive bus at Gateway Plaza opening at 4:30 p.m. Stands between the arena and Jacobs Field are already open with a full assortment of Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus merchandise. The public is invited to stop and shop during the day.
Additional rules that apply for tonight's concert are:
- Backpacks and large bags, sealed packages (including gifts for the performers) are not permitted, nor are video cameras, audio recorders or similar electronic devices.
- Purses and diaper bags are permitted, but will be checked. Cameras are permitted, except for professional cameras with 35mm lenses.
Also, due to the overwhelming interest in the concert, some special ticket rules will be in place. They include:
- All tickets held at the box office may be picked-up after noon today.
- The person who purchased the tickets must pick them up.
- The credit card used to purchase the tick its must be presented to confirm the number from the Ticketmaster transaction.
- A valid photo ID will be required.
- No name changes can be made to the tickets being held.
Also, the concert will be restricted to people residing within a 150-mile radius of Greater Cleveland area. Residency qualifications will be determined based on credit card billing address. Orders placed by residents outside the specified zip code designations will be canceled without notice and refunds will be given.
