CUYAHOGA FALLS: The Falls City Council on Monday approved the appointment of Paul Moledor as fire chief.
Moledor, a 24-year member of the fire department, was appointed acting chief by Mayor Don Robart on April 3.
Former Chief Mark Snyder was on medical leave from April 3 until his retirement took effect Friday.
Moledor is a life resident of Cuyahoga Falls. During his time as assistant chief, he worked with the city administration on the new dispatch center and the Rain Garden Reserve.
Robart called Moledor the ''go-to guy'' for the city's emergency preparedness program.
He said Moledor does a great job organizing the city's semiannual mock emergency drills, which prepare city officials and safety forces.
The department is authorized to have 87 sworn members, 78 of whom are working 24-hour shifts out of four stations, providing full-service fire protection/prevention and emergency medical and rescue service, according to the city's Web site.
