GREEN: What a developer and a contractor called site preparation for a residential development and neighbors termed a five-year mining operation was shut down at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The city and the developer, Robert DeHoff of Green Land Trust and John Smith of H.M. Miller Co., reached a pact to suspend the work on Phase 6 of the Kings Ridge Subdivision at East Caston and Cottage Grove roads.
City Council last week called for an end to the work, which created noise and dust problems for some residents.
The developer has said the work to remove dirt and other material from the site is needed to make way for a road.
