To vote in presidential election, you need to register by Monday

Holly Beach registered and voted — for the first time — on the same day this week.
The 18-year-old East High School senior took advantage of an overlap that allows people to both register and vote early.
''For my first time voting, it was pretty easy — pretty smooth,'' said Beach, who cast her ballot at the Job Center, a new site at 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron where early voting is being offered.
The overlap runs through Monday, the deadline for registering for the Nov. 4 presidential election. This time period is the subject of ongoing litigation, pitting Republicans against Democrats.
Both presidential campaigns, however, and other groups are promoting the overlap — even providing transportation for college students to elections boards.
The registration period isn't only important for first time voters. Those who have moved or changed their names also need to fill out updated registration forms.
The county elections boards will offer extended hours, with all of them open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
In Summit County, the elections board, located at 470 Grant St., also will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Summit County residents who want to both register and vote can go to the Job Center during those hours and between 8 a.m. and noon Sunday.
The Summit County board also will have open registration at 31 locations, including several Acme stores, on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Registrations already are up at local elections boards, with each of them reporting several thousand new voters. The boards are still processing hundreds of applications.
Local elections officials suggest that voters register at designated sites, rather than through third-party groups that randomly approach them on the street.
''In my experience, when I've dealt with paid volunteers for petitions and applications, they go awry,'' said Bryan Williams, deputy director of the Summit board.
The board recently held hearings on questionable registrations, with voters subpoenaed to answer questions about problems such as signatures not matching and multiple registrations with different information. Many of the voters told the board they were solicited by groups who were being paid for getting registrations.
''It's a lot better to go to the board or through a group like the League of Women Voters,'' Williams said.

You are qualified to vote if:
• You are a citizen of the United States.
• You are at least 18 on or before the general election, which is Nov. 4.
• You will be a resident of Summit County for at least 30 days before the election.
• You are not incarcerated for a felony conviction.
• You have not been declared incompetent to vote by a probate court.
• You register at least 30 days before the election.
Identification required:
Ohio driver's license number or last four digits of the Social Security number. For those registering by mail who do not have these forms of identification, a copy of a valid photo identification or a document showing the name and address, such as a utility bill or paycheck, must be provided. If you've moved/changed your name: You must fill out a new registration form. You also may complete a notice of change in voting status and file it with the court when you apply for a marriage license or when your name is changed by court order.

Vote once, vote often !! Already I am hearing that 'the O'bus is bringing in the homeless to vote, many with questionable ID's. Gotta love Ohio.
