Shearer's Foods, the Stark County snack foods manufacturer, was one of four winners of the 2008 Competitiveness Challenge, organized by MAGNET (the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network.)
Fourteen companies competed in monthslong projects to increase sales or productivity through innovation while showing social and environmental responsibility.
The companies reported their efforts created or retained 136 jobs, developed 20 new projects, and had a $250 million impact.
The other winners were Swagelok of Solon, Cres Cor of Mentor and Swiger Coil Systems of Cleveland.
