Liquid crystal company moving to KSU research park

AlphaMicron, a Kent liquid crystal technology developer, will move into Kent State University's Centennial Research Park, taking up three-quarters of the facility and enabling the company to grow.

The 41,000-square-foot center also expects to add two new high-tech startups, although the university was not ready to share details.

AlphaMicron, founded in 1997, designs consumer products with advanced liquid crystal applications, such as auto-tinting sunglasses.

KSU President Lester Lefton said the research park is fulfilling its mission of ''technology-based economic development, job creation and stemming the brain drain from Northeast Ohio.''

Oh no. Akron's city hall hero missed another opportunity to bring a high tech outfit to Akron.

My guess is that they didn't want to have to pay his tab at guy's for the priviledge.

That has nothing to do with it. Liquid crystals is Kent's niche. Stop the cynicism and criticize based on sound logic.

This isn't much of a news story...AlphaMicron is already in Kent, so they didn't have to move far...
