An MP3 player could have had a role in the death of an Alliance High School student hit by a car Monday.
Alliance Police Chief Lawrence Dordea, said that Alison Draves, 15, could have been listening to music on her MP3 player while jogging, might not have heard the approaching car and might have run into its path.
''She had the MP3 strapped to her arm,'' Dordea said. ''Why would she have it on if she wasn't listening to it?''
Alison was jogging near her Oakwood Drive home in Alliance around 8:10 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a car driven by John Hampu, 55, a social studies teacher at Alliance High School.
Alison, a sophomore and honor student, died on Tuesday afternoon at Akron Children's Hospital. She had sustained a fatal head injury.
The results of the police investigation into the accident have been forwarded to the Alliance city prosecutor for review.
