CINCINNATI: The University of Cincinnati has begun the new academic year with a record enrollment.
At a board of trustees meeting Tuesday, the school reported 42,800 students began classes Monday. That’s up 2 percent from last year.
UC had earlier expected to hit 43,000 students, but areas such as regional campuses were slightly lower than expected.
UC says it has about 4,500 freshmen, also a record and up 8 percent from last year. International student enrollment is growing, to a record of more than 1,000 undergraduates from 46 countries.
The school says Mason High School in the Warren County city of Mason is its top feeder high school.
Ohio State University is the state’s largest school with about 64,000 students.
