VA marks women’s clinic expansion in central Ohio

Associated Press

COLUMBUS: A Department of Veterans Affairs health care center is marking the expansion of its women’s clinic to meet the needs of the growing number of women enrolling in VA health care.

The Columbus VA Ambulatory Care Center is nearly double the size of the previous clinic and offers a full range of health care. Women can get primary care and care specifically geared toward female-specific health concerns.

Mental-health care and disease prevention and screening also are available.

The VA holds hold a ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the newly expanded clinic’s opening.

Women Veterans Program Manager Maureen Taylor says the number of female patients at the clinic has increased more than 15 percent over the past two years. The national average increase for that period is about 14 percent.
