HOUSTON: Two people are in custody for stealing an expensive puppy from a Houston pet store in an incident where a woman used her two small children to help in the theft.
Harris County sheriff's officials say they arrested a woman Monday at an apartment complex after getting a call the puppy was there. Then she told them about a man in a nearby apartment and he was arrested while trying to flee out a window.
The puppy, a $3,000 English bulldog, has been recovered and safely returned to the store.
A surveillance video showed the woman and two kids, accompanied by two men, ask to see the dog Sunday. While the children are petting the dog, they all run off with the animal, jump into their car and speed away.
