Alabama Town Proposes Limiting Pets To 3 Per House
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jacksonville's City Council is considering a draft ordinance that would limit to three the numbers of pets a resident can have.
The limit of 3 dogs and/or cats at any Jacksonville household is in response to several complaints about dogs running free in the city limits.
The proposed ordinance allows those who have more than three pets at the time the ordinance takes effect to keep them as long as the animals are properly licensed and registered.
Penalties have not been decided. The ordinance is still in draft form and will be discussed at the council's June 22 meeting.
