Bark in the Park at Clay’s Park Resort will feature the high-flying action of Dock Dogs who will qualify for the World Championship during the three day event, May 29-31, 2009. You may have seen the World Champion DockDogs on the David Letterman Show – now’s the chance to see these amazing canines in person.
The competition is open to everyone, any breed, size or shape can compete, however dogs must be six months of age or older in order to compete.
In the Big Air competition dogs run down a 40” dock and dive into a pool of water after an object is thrown. They are electronically judged for the length of their jump.
The Extreme Vertical competition features a high jump for the dogs as they lunge to snag a bumper suspended in the air. The bumper is raised up two inches each time until one of the dogs is crowned King.
During the Speed Retriever, the dogs are put on the clock to see how fast they can run down the dock, plunge into the water, swim to the end of the pool and retrieve an object.
All dogs are invited to compete in “Strut Your Mutt” on Saturday, May 30, at 3 p.m. The competition takes place at the Melody Barn and prizes will be awarded for Cutest Pet, Best in Costume, Youngest Dog, Oldest Dog, and the Best Dog/Owner Look-alike.
During Bark in the Park, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy Clay’s Waterpark Resort with water slides, kayaks, canoes and sail boats. Admission is $11 per person on Friday; $14 per person on Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the DockDogs event only is $5. per person. Pets on a leash are admitted free of charge.
