A special salute to the eight members of Wadsworth's Girl Scout Troop No. 1423 and its dedication in aiding the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Their charitable efforts earned 11-year-old Junior Girl Scouts a bronze medal in the process.

Troop leader Christa Knight said the Scouts represent Sacred Heart and Central intermediate schools in Wadsworth.

''They were able to collect a variety of dog and cat food, toys, leashes and cleaning supplies for the association,'' Knight said. ''After their presentation [on May 2] at the Medina County Fairgrounds during an Adopt-a-thon, they were able to visit with the animals. ... ''

So, hats off to Elizabeth Paydo, Tracey Peterson, Chelsea Wein, Theresa Smith, Sarah Hoff, Ashley Knight, Lauren Knight and Sarah Vance.
