Business at Hattie Larlham Doggie Day Care & Boarding on Arlington Road has been so brisk since it opened in 2007, the nonprofit agency will move to a larger facility to accommodate the demand for its services.

The move to the new facility at 2778 Greensburg Road, about four miles from the original location, is tentatively scheduled for March 1. Hattie Larlham opened an additional site in Twinsburg in August 2010, where it employs 40 people with developmental disabilities.

The move to a larger, 5,000-square-foot space about a mile from the Akron-Canton Airport will double the existing space, allowing for expansion of the business and increasing the number of people with developmental disabilities it employs to 40 people, Rick Parson, regional manager for Hattie Larlham Doggie Day Care Northeast Ohio, said in a prepared statement.

The move will also increase the number of dogs the facility can house to 50.

Dogs will be cared for in a cage-free facility where they will have their own themed rooms and receive individual care from the employees and their job coaches.

The agency also will offer a full-service professional groomer as well as a retail area, said Parson.

The location of the new building will be convenient for travelers who are boarding dogs when flying in and out of the airport, he said.

''It's one of the fastest-growing airports in the nation,'' Parson said. ''With that considered, we thought it was a good marriage.''

Operations will continue at the South Arlington Road facility until the new building opens.
