Humane Society of Greater Akron To Hold First Telethon November 8th

By jim Published: November 3, 2009

Sunday November 8th the Humane Society of Greater Akron will be hosting its first telethon on Time Warner's Channel 23 from 2 -5 pm.

"We are working hard to make the lives of all of the animals of Summit County better," said Executive Director Karen Conklin.

The Save the Animals Imagine the PAWSibilities telethon has a goal of raising money for both operating costs and the new building campaign.

The Humane Society of Greater Akron will be moving to its new facility in Twinsburg Township in January 2010 and is working to raise money in order to purchase the building as well as raise awareness of their current needs. In the past six months, the Humane Society of Greater Akron had taken in large numbers of dogs and cats due hoarding cases and the costs to care for these animals have greatly increased. The Humane Society of Greater Akron will be broadcasting live from the Akron Aeros stadium and invites people to collect money and bring it to the stadium to turn in during the telethon broadcast.

The Humane Society of Greater Akron wants to thank the generous support of Time Warner Cable and Fred Martin Superstores.
