The Cat Fanciers’ Association Foundation, Inc. announces that they will operate the Feline Historical Museum, 260 East Main Street in Alliance, on a “summer hours” schedule starting June 1, 2012. As of that date, the museum will be open from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as 9am to 12pm on Saturday.
Special activities for the month of June include:
1. Participation in the “Spring Fling” event scheduled for June 2nd in historic downtown Alliance. On that Saturday, the museum will be open from 9am until 5pm so that participants in the “Historical Walk” can visit the numerous historical artifacts that portray the history of the domestic cat.
2. The museum will be the site for photo opportunities in conjunction with the "I ♥ STARK" Annual Photo Contest sponsored by the Canton Stark Ohio Convention & Visitors Bureau. Visit the museum and have your photo taken with one of our large cats, submit it to the CVB and you could win a $250 gas card. Photos can be submitted June 1 through July 31, with voting taking place August 6-12.
3. An exhibition of teapots will be a feature at the museum during June and July. Tea has a history that goes back to the Ming Dynasty in China, and teapots were originally designed to mix the tea leaves with water for medicinal purposes. The museum has over 25 teapots, all featuring the cat, on exhibit.
