Let Sleeping Dogs Lie?

By BrookeLynn Published: March 25, 2009

Do dogs dream? I certainly think so. I know my big guy begins to run in his sleep and give the occasional whimper or slight bark, and I swear he is chasing a squirrel, or... maybe something else.

I did a bit of reading in the science of dreaming, and directly relating it to dogs. Turns out, very much like us: dogs have a storage of memories locked in their minds, and just like us, decompress during sleep and relive those stored thoughts. Or, that is what the folks at Pet Palace seem to think. They're article is an interesting look into the world of doggy dreams.

Then again, some of us think our dreams are insights to the future. If that's the case, then our pups are foretelling the tale of chasing that squirrel, guarding their house, or going after that cat in the yard. A very likely future.
