Longtime veterinarian Richard A. Weaver is opening a center in North Canton to provide basic animal care at a reduced cost.
The Veterinary Wellness Center of North Canton is scheduled to open Monday at 517 N. Main St., the building where Weaver practiced from 1968 until he sold his business in 2000. The center will charge $20 for a routine visit and $25 for an ailment visit. Prices for tests, vaccinations and other treatments are at http://vetwellnesscenter.com.
The idea for the center was spurred by Weaver's work at a pet shelter, where he met many pet owners who couldn't afford traditional veterinary care. He recommends clients continue to take their animals to their regular veterinarians for needs beyond basic care.
The center is open to anyone, regardless of income.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The center will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m. today, followed by an open house from 2 to 4 p.m.
The phone number is 330-966-5569.
