Mystery rescuer saves 2 dogs from icy pond in Idaho

By jim Published: December 14, 2009

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Humane Society says a good Samaritan rescued a family's two dogs from an icy pond in Ada County, but then left before anyone could thank him.

The society says the man saw the two yellow Labradors struggling and exhausted in the middle of the pond Friday. So he tied a rope around himself, waded up to his waist in the chilly waters and brought the 2-year-old animals to safety.

He then hopped in his car and drove away without telling anyone who he was.

The dogs were reunited with Renee and Ben Jones and their six children.

But Renee Jones says the rescue really meant a lot to them and they would like to thank him in person.
