Ohio puppies stuffed in suitcase to be adopted
TOLEDO: Six puppies found stuffed in a suitcase and abandoned next to a trash bin in Ohio are headed for adoption.
The Toledo Area Humane Society will accept applications from 11 a.m. Friday to 7 p.m. May 16 for a random draw to select people who will be contacted about adopting.
Executive director John Dinon with the society told The Blade newspaper in Toledo that adoption inquiries have come from 50 states.
One puppy will be adopted by their foster family.
The man accused of abandoning the puppies last month in a Toledo alley has pleaded no contest to abandoning animals and cruelty to animals. He could face four years of probation.
Adoption applications are available at www.ToledoAreaHumaneSociety.org.
