RIDGE MANOR, Fla.: A man was reportedly run over by his own truck after his dog put it into gear. The sheriff's office reported that 43-year-old Christopher Bishop was checking under his Ford F-150 for oil leaks Sunday evening. He had put the running truck into neutral and left the driver's door open.
While he was under the truck, Bishop's bulldog, Tassey, jumped into the truck and knocked the vehicle into gear. The truck rolled over the left side of Bishop's body.To read more or comment...

Pepper is growly at first meeting but is not aggressive. He needs gentle guidance when meeting men for the first time, then he’s ok. He is very loving and wants nothing more than to be with his people, a soft bed, petting, and good eats. He is very obedient and knows sit and stay, and maybe shake. Pepper was an owner-surrender to a local pound whose life circumstance changed, so they could not keep Pepper. After we brought him into PAWS and into his foster home, the foster home found him to be a gentle, a very loving dog, and not high maintenance at all. He will make a wonderful pet for someone! Pepper is great with the foster home cat too! By the way, Pepper was shaved down because his fur was very matted. To read more or comment...
While the Zoo is home to a number of exotic animals, on one day each year it becomes a temporary haven for dozens of domestic dogs and cats in need of good homes. Those interested in adopting a pet should plan to attend the 10th annual Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
The event showcases more than 100 adoptable pets from 20 local animal shelters and rescue groups. More than 750 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies have been adopted through Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo since its inception in 2001.
"Our goal is to find great homes for these wonderful animals," said Sue Allen, the Zoo's Manager of Marketing & Public Relations. "We really need people who are willing to provide the love and care these dogs and cats deserve."
Representatives from local humane organizations will be on hand to offer advice on how to choose the right pet for you and how best to care for it. Each shelter sets its own adoption fees and policies, and some require a waiting period.
The event is free and takes place on the Zoo's Ticket Plaza. For health and safety reasons, visitors should leave their current pets at home.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $10 per person, $7 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 77, 90 and 480.

Wilson and his brother were found under a porch by a homeowner's dog and, needless to say, they had quite a scare! Since then, his brother has been adopted and now it’s his turn to find his forever home.
Don’t be fooled, Wilson may be a bit nervous in his cage, but opens right up once in a comfortable environment. He loves to play but also loves to find time for his afternoon cat naps! Also, watch out when you turn on your faucet! Wilson loves to play in running water (a little habit he learned from his foster sister). Wilson would do great on his own or make an excellent friend to any feline. To read more or comment...
