PAWS Pet of the Week: Meet Natalie!

By millere80 Published: April 26, 2010

Natalie is the nicest girl you will ever meet! She is a small, 1-2 year old Russian Blue mix. She was abandoned, very pregnant, in the backyard of a young lady with a disability. When the landlord threatened to evict the woman if she kept Natalie, PAWS was called. By then, Natalie had given birth to three kittens, one of whom died.

When PAWS took in mama and her newborns, we fell in love with Natalie. She is the sweetest, most beautiful cat, and such a wonderful mom to her babies. She adapted to her foster home in no time, and everything seemed to be perfect. We were certain that a girl as lovely as Natalie would quickly find her new forever home.

Sadly, when Natalie went in for shots and testing, the results came back positive for FIV. We were heartbroken. We understand FIV and know that Natalie is a happy, healthy kitty who will live a long life provided that she is well cared for, kept indoors, and adopted to a home with either no cats or other gentile cats. But many people don't understand this. This has made Natalie's adoption difficult. She also lost her foster home and had to be moved to another where she is learning to adjust as well. Sweet Natalie doesn't deserve this!

FIV is only spread through bites and mating so Natalie would be fine in a home with another gentle cat or two ... or no cats if you'd be content to have her as the only cat child in your life. Could Natalie be the love of your life? Give this special girl a chance and find out.
