Pet-lover blood drive
AKRON: American Red Cross of Summit and Portage Counties is sponsoring its first Pet Lovers' Blood Drive, noon to 7 p.m. July 30.
The event will feature a showcase of about a dozen adoptable dogs from the Humane Society of Greater Akron. Information about the Red Cross chapter's new Pet First Aid training will be available.
Blood donors will receive free goody bags for their pets.
The Red Cross asks that blood donors not bring pets to the event.
Pet First Aid classes are single 31/2-hour sessions offered on various Saturday mornings and weekdays.
